It’s 3 months now until Gorricks 11th annual TORQ in your Sleep, their much loved and anticipated August bank holiday weekend XC endurance event, headline sponsored by TORQ Fitness.
The event: The event offers 12 hours riding between Noon and Midnight for Solos, Pairs and Teams or riding for 6 hours for Solos and Pairs from 3pm to 9pm. There’s Single Speed & Fat Bike sub categories available too, with this year’s event incorporating the UK Fat Bike Championships. Expect everyone’s favourite sections, plus a few surprises in their established 8 mile figure of 8 course, made up of a blend of flowing single track and more open sections in a mix of heath land, beech woods, pine forest and open parkland.
The venue: The venue is open from Noon on Saturday 25th until Noon on Monday 27th and has free onsite camping; trackside and in the beautiful camping areas around the central arena. This friendly event has comprehensive facilities including a large riders’ marquee, trade stands to browse in the Arena, hot showers and plenty of toilets. Quaver catering will have their marquee on site and be open throughout the weekend. In short, there’s everything you need to make a weekend of it with your family, friends and supporters.
Saturday: The course is open from Noon until 7pm for pre-riding, and registration will be open from 4pm to 6pm for you to confirm your entry and collect your number board(s) and registration packs. Catering will be open until 10pm, and there’ll be music as you relax and socialise around the Marquee in the evening.
Prize giving: Because Gorrick have such an array of sponsors led by www.torqfitness.com (and partners who you can check out here), not only are there great trophies and prizes for the category winners on the podium, but also loads of spot prizes to be won in the killer prize draw which takes place after the main prize giving.
Entry & full event details: Entry is by online pre-entry only, and is available on the dedicated web site http://torqinyoursleep.com/ together with full event details. Pairs and teams can be entered with just a name, as they don’t need to be finally confirmed until the day of the event when you sign on and collect your Registration Packs. In the week leading up to the event, riders will receive a Final Instructions email – this will need to be forwarded to your other team mates if you entered on their behalf.
